4th grade is the perfect time to introduce students to the wonders of technology and I am very excited to get started. This year, your child will learn how to type, use Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint software to create documents and multimedia projects. Students will also learn to navigate the internet safely, post to our class blog and wiki, as well as upload and edit photos or videos.
Instruction will match current PA technology standards found at 793|0|0|http://www.pdesas.org/Standard/Views#0|793|0|0 Please check out my classroom website, blog and wiki to see the types of projects the students will be working on. The lessons your children will be learning on Internet Safety can be previewed here: http://spring12-bce-02.wikispaces.com/Group+A+4-C-1, I also included relevant information for parents new to the Net-generation, to help alleviate any fears or concerns.
I will explain the multimedia projects at Back to School Night and I will post more information about them on the class website, so you will be fully informed. My goal is to keep the students up-to-date with modern trends in technology while keeping their safety a top priority. In the parent handbook found on the OJRSD.com site there is the following statement: RE: Publishing student work or pictures: “Parents who do not wish to have their child's picture and/or work appear in District publications, including electronic publications, should notify the principal of their child's school, in writing, at the start of each school year.”
Together, in partnership, we can help our children achieve success in the constantly changing world that we live in. I am looking for parent volunteers who would be willing to help with our multimedia projects. If you have your PA clearances on file with the office and you are interested and available to help for a few hours each week, please contact me at kdibattista@ojrsd.com . We need help editing, posting, taking photographs and videos, and helping out in general.
Looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child in 4th grade!
